The Coleman copper-nickel mine in Sudbury, owned by CVRD, was suspended for business on November 13, 2017 and will remain closed until mid-next. As a result, more than 200 production and maintenance personnel from Vale moved more than once to work in other mines.
Note: The Coleman mine is one of six production mines in the Sudbury at Vale. The other five are the Copper Cliffs, Creighton, Gateson, Stobby and Totten. Sudbury is one of the largest nickel-producing regions in the world and has a history of operations dating back to 1885.
