Global Stainless Steel Production Increase in 2017

The data released by the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) on March 15 showed that the global stainless steel production in 2017 reached 48.081 million tons, which was an increase of nearly 5.8% from the revised 45.448 million tons in the previous year. Among them, the second quarter reached 12.545 million tons, an increase of 31.8% and 0.07% respectively.

In terms of regions, Europe increased by approximately 1.3% year-on-year to 7.377 million tons, and the United States increased by 11.0% to 27.54 million tons. China's mainland increased by approximately 4.7% to 25.774 million tons, excluding Asia in Mainland China, Korea, and Indonesia. (Mainly Japan, India, Taiwan, etc.) increased by approximately 4.5% year-on-year to 8.03 million tons, and Brazil, Russia, South Africa, Korea, and Indonesia increased by approximately 22.0% to 4.146 million tons year-on-year.
